Come with us now, to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when a masked man rode the wild west on a horse that communicated in unintelligible grunts! In fact, forget the masked man, because this is a comic book about the horse. Yes, Dell published a equus-centric comic called "Hi-Yo Silver", I suppose to appeal to the little girls who could care less about frontier justice and just watched westerns for the horses.

That theory is borne out in the first page, in which we see a little girl and boy have inexplicably replaced Tonto as the masked man's sidekicks.

The comic is actually the Lone Ranger telling the kids stories about Silver's past-- which I assume he's pulling out of his ass, because he wasn't around when they actually occurred. And I'm pretty sure Silver didn't tell him, because this is the way Silver communicates:

Yes, if it weren't for the Lone Ranger narrating this comic, it would basically be a series of bizarre grunts from Silver and various other free-roaming plains critters. Would YOU want to read a comic like this?

BREET MNNGGHH AUGH BLEEP BLATTTTT
On the other hand, it might be best not to give animals the ability to verbalize, because if you do they might end up like Rex, the Wonder Dog, who as you can see here has the ability to thought-monologue that would put Spiderman to shame:

Sheesh, you let a dog have thought balloons and soon he's putting his paws on the desk like he owns the Pentagon! "YES GENERAL, TELL ME, REX THE WONDER DOG, MORE!"
