Is this for real? Or is ASTROMAN some kind of tongue-in-cheek parody? We don't care. Appearing as a backup story in the incredible NEW YORK CITY OUTLAWS #3 - a 1986 participant in the "black and white boom" that gave us the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" - ASTROMAN clearly out-crazys both the lead feature and the other backup story, which features real-life rocker THOR. Though John Jacobs gets some credit, ASTROMAN is mostly the work of Ken Landgraf, the hardest working man in the New York City comic business to never actually succeed in the comic business. You can buy his original art online, though.

That's right, only comics could give us the spectacle of a Communist America in 1986, the height of the Reagan Revolution's power. Astroman, whom we assume is a superhero, even though his powers and origin are never mentioned, is conflicted because he agrees with the conservative protestors, but is FORCED to arrest them. Oh the humanity.

I would think that any election that features people in skintight outfits and trunks is pretty much assumed to be automatically a mockery.

My question is, what was there to STEAL 40,000 years ago?

Is Ms. President Hillary surprised at the monster, or at the ever-changing logo on Astroman's manly chest?

That's right, within the vicious communist tyrant beats the heart of a little schoolgirl. I think it's Astroman's little moustache.

If you're jonesing for more ASTROMAN, be sure and write to this address! Imagine - FULL COLOR Astroman and Tami. I know I am.
