This is a book made by Xerox Education Publications for a book club, presumably the sort of thing a kid would order away for from a catalogue distributed to classrooms across the country, like the Scholastic books. It was printed by Charlton Press, the publishers you'll recall from last week's entry on romance comics, but this book makes those shoddy romance books look like classics of the genre in comparison. As you can see, this features those pre-historic second bananas the Rubbles in a series of 3-panel gag strips so puzzling and unfunny that you'd swear these were Japanese Salariman comics translated through Alta Vista Babelfish.
For extra reader participation fun, write your OWN dialogue to these strips! See if you can come up with something more coherent than the original writer did!



I guess in caveman times restaurants only served one item each.

The joke is apparently that he's surprised that Barney finds sleeping more important than bowling-- This of course begs the question, what was FRED thinking of? I BET IT WAS SOMETHING DIRTY!!
